The KPVCVBG has again successfully run Digger Day, our largest fund-raising event of the year, on 28th July 2026.
The event this year commemorated the 50th anniversary of the awarding of the George Cross to one of our own, the late Michael Pratt GC, and the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in Vietnam.
A huge thank you goes out to Fred Campbell and Rick Meehan for their organisation, but there were also many more who contributed to the success of the day and its prelude; including our photographer – Dianne Fielding, and caterer – Deb Kelly of the CWA.
VIPs on the day included: Keith Payne VC AM, Willie Apiata VC, Tim Britten CV, Andy Perry US Silver Star, Commanding Officer HMAS Albatross and the Deputy Commander Fleet Air Arm.
Once again, 723 Squadron with 2 x EC135 helicopters and CHC with their SAR helicopter, provided outstanding support, and the Navy Cadets formed a guard of honour.
In the main game, Shoalhaven drew 17 all with Kiama, while Willie Apiata pulled on the boots for Kiama in the seconds.
